The
temple of healing
The foundation
of the Sri Danvantri Arogya Peetam, Wajaljapet, stands on a
promise Sri S Muraleedhara Swamigal made to his mother.
The
temple is dedicated to the God of Medicine, Danvantri, because
the Swamigal lost his parents to diseases. When his mother was
suffering acutely from cancer, she made him promise that he
would do something to save people from the pain of diseases in
the world.
As a priest,
the one thing he could think of was setting up a temple for
Danvantri and deflecting all the crowds rushing to hospitals to
this ‘Makkal Pinitheerkkum Maruthuvamanai’ in Walajapet,
near Vellore.
He has been
working ceaselessly on the promise and is collecting positive
energy from devotees in the form of the Danvantri Mantra written
on paper, to be used as yantra under the main idol in the
temple.
He is also
simultaneously conducting Danvantri homams with the utsava idol
in various parts of the country to raise money for the temple.
The main idol, a beautifully decorated granite sculpture, is now
touring the places where the homams were performed before
reaching its final abode. |
“Inge
Oru
Thani Manithan Deivam Agiran
(Man becomes God)”
because
the prayers of
one man
can help
save so many
others.
